Harrington UK Rare Disease Scholar Award

* We welcome and encourage multiple proposals from each institution. *

Modelled after its US programmes, Harrington Discovery Institute® provides UK researchers with a unique opportunity for funding and personalised discovery and development support to advance promising research into novel treatments for rare disease.

This two-year Harrington programme includes £100,000 guaranteed, with the potential to qualify for an additional up to £400K (a total of £500K).

Eligibility

  • MD or PhD (or equivalent)
  • Faculty position at an accredited academic medical center, university or research institution in the United Kingdom, and conduct the majority of his/her/their research at that institution. Senior post-docs will also be considered.
  • A project must have only a single Principal Investigator (PI), who is responsible for project oversight and financial management. The PI may engage collaborators, core labs or commercial CROs to execute any portion of the project.
  • Past recipients of Harrington awards may submit new and distinct proposals, but may not seek additional support for previously funded projects.

  • Visit the Harrington Discovery Institute SmartSimple portal.
  • On the home page, click 'Register Here' and complete registration.
  • Once your registration is completed, log into your account.
  • Once logged in, click 'My Profile' to input or update your contact information.
  • Click 'Home' to return to the home page.
  • Click 'Apply Now' to complete and submit your full application.

ADDF-Harrington Scholar Award

The Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and Harrington Discovery Institute® partner to accelerate the translation of academic discoveries into medicines for treating, preventing or curing patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias.

The two-year ADDF-Harrington Scholar programme provides dedicated support from a project management team and pharmaceutical industry experts, as well as funding of up to $600,000.

Eligibility

  • MD or PhD (or equivalent)
  • Faculty position at an accredited academic medical center, university or research institution in the US, Canada or the United Kingdom, and conduct the majority of his/her/their research at that institution. 
  • Proposals should support the development of a therapeutic that could treat, prevent or slow Alzheimer's disease or related dementias.
  • A project must have only a single Principal Investigator (PI), who is responsible for project oversight and financial management. The PI may engage collaborators, core labs or commercial CROs to execute any portion of the project.
  • Past recipients of Harrington awards may submit new and distinct proposals, but may not seek additional support for previously funded projects.
